The Interview

Justin Bristow: {1} So, Chrystos, how does it feel to be the featured artist for Impression?

Duong Tuan Nghia: Well,it's quite suprising for me. This is the second artgroup i've ever been in. Plus, it has many great artists. Being featured for the opening pack is so incredible, I never expected this to happen. But again, thanks to you vibe for all your support.

Justin Bristow: {2} Well, you are a "Budding Artist" at the moment. Your work is very original and has talent at the same time. How long have you been doing digital art?

Duong Tuan Nghia: Uhm...let me think. I've been in art about 2 or 3 years or so....

I realized that
I'm...made for ...
other genres...

Justin Bristow: {3} How did you get into Digital Art?

Duong Tuan Nghia: Ha. Well, at first I met Photoshop. And so I looked in the internet for tutorials, and I found Artician. By the way, it's a great site, you should check it out. I kept growing within it, I took the name "teeok." Then I discovered deviantART, and was flabbergasted (correct me) by the quality of art in that site (if i could call that a site).

Justin Bristow: {4} flabbergasted, lol

Duong Tuan Nghia: So, I first began trying out that explosive thing but then I realized that i'm not made for explosive abstract but for other genres.

Justin Bristow: {5} *thank god*

Duong Tuan Nghia: So I dropped explosive and tried out different styles until now.. lol, yea thank god.

Justin Bristow: {6} Do you make your art for you, or other people? As in making it to see how many favorites you can get, or to express yourself.

Duong Tuan Nghia: Well i have my friend who usually says "you've got to make it better than polaus, excelsium or viviphyd!! Go and get hundreds of favourites!!!" but i think my art, and art in general doesn't have anything in common with celebrity or whatever you can call it. Fav doesn't matter for me, nor pageviews nor watchers.... You can tell me that I make art to express myself and by making art (especially on dA) you can make yourself a great network of friendship. It's fun too.

Justin Bristow: {7} How old are you, and where are you from?

Duong Tuan Nghia: I'm between 14 and 15 and I'm from Vietnam

Justin Bristow: {8} How is it over there?

Duong Tuan Nghia: Vietnam ? oh man it's so hot here, you can't sleep without a air conditioner

Justin Bristow: {9} How hot would you say it is over there, right now?

Duong Tuan Nghia: Well fortunately not very hot today but usually it gets to 38 C or even greater than 40 ! That's why in Vietnam now we don't have enough electricity, less water = less electricity and maybe less electricity = less water. That's the worst nightmare.

Justin Bristow: {10} Wow, I bet it's like heaven when winter comes

Duong Tuan Nghia: Here? Well it's something you can compare to hell. There's too much humidity. So even if it's only 12 C, you can freeze outside. Sometimes i can hardly write with my hand.

Justin Bristow: {11} Woah... who would you say is your biggest inspiration or influence in Digital Art? If you have any.

Duong Tuan Nghia: uhm.. that's hard ... Before it was polaus, now it's... very difficult one you know cause I gather my inspirations from a myriad of artists, I would say he1z. He always come up with something different, even in the style.

Justin Bristow: {12} Yeah, both are great artists. So, I hear you break dance...

Duong Tuan Nghia: What ? How do you know ?

Justin Bristow: {13} haha I was just messin' around, didn't you really did.

Duong Tuan Nghia: uhm i'm pure amateur

Justin Bristow: {14} What does the future hold for you and your break dancing career?

Duong Tuan Nghia: Nah nah nah it was only something like a hobby man, no future.

Justin Bristow: {15} Oh well see about that.

Duong Tuan Nghia: My future is in programming and maybe in digital art too

Justin Bristow: {16} How long have you been programming, and what languages do you know?

Duong Tuan Nghia: I've been programming for 3 years, but i never really did anything. It began with darkBASIC a language for game programming, and then my cousin introduced me to JAVA. Between that I hung out with html and C++.

Justin Bristow: {17} Cool, any chance of learning PHP? I'm trying to learn PHP, and I just can't keep focused, and remember things.

Duong Tuan Nghia: Of course, i will learn it for my portfolio. That will have to wait too.

Justin Bristow: {18} Any chance of working on the programming side of EvokeONE in the future?

Duong Tuan Nghia: I don't know, but i'd like to, progrmming is such fun. But that will depend on Mr. Administrator.

Justin Bristow: {19} ;-) How did you come up with the name Chrystos?

Duong Tuan Nghia: oh you shouldn't have asked his question lol, anywho, this name was forced by my friend (the one who sticks with the fav number). If he didn't do that, i would be continuing with teeok

Justin Bristow: {20} Well, both of them are nice original names, but I like Chrystos the best.

Ok, well, thanks for letting me interview you man. Keep those great pieces coming.

Duong Tuan Nghia: Ok thanks again man.
